Eduardo Ribera

I ran into an interesting book today that featured pictures and stories of many cigars.  I have read a lot of books on the topic but I’m always surprised and amazed that there are still a million and one facts I bump into that I’ve not heard before.  Below is a picture of Eduardo Ribera, the man who was responsible for putting together the blend for Cohiba Cigars.

I’m not sure that in the last 75 years there has been one man who has contributed more to the quest for cigar quality than this man.  He must have been doing something right because he singlehandedly raised the bar for tobacco producers and brought the finest cigars to the world.  At first the production began in only 3 sizes: The Lancero, the Corona Especiale and the Panetela.  It wasn’t until 1989 that 3 more sizes were introduced: The Esplendido, (my personal favorite) the Robusto and the Exquisito.

There is a lot more to talk about concerning the Cohiba brand……. I’ll keep looking for more and more info and will continue to bring it into this blog.
