San Cristobal De La Habana El Principe !!!!

I just finished having the nicest “post breakfast” cigar in recent memory.. From time to time I love smaller cigars because of the time I may or may not have and I’m always surprised about the smoothness and complexity they have to offer.  One usually expects complexity from a robusto or one of the larger ring gauges but I was really surprised this morning with my choice of cigars.  I had a few San Cristobal De La Habana El Principe cigars in the humidor and thought that since it had been about 8 months since I smoked one I should give it another try.  WOW!!!!

the real sweetness appears right......... about.......... Here!

I often spend my time in the mornings with a R y J Churchill but I have a lot on my plate today and didn’t have the time for something that time consuming.  The El Principe started off being a bit of a spicy little cigar and had that quality throughout but what took me by surprise this morning was the amount of sweetness that appeared as it went into the second third.  I was so impressed with the amount of chocolate I was tasting at the beginning but the second third had the chocolate become sweeter and coupled with notes of fruit as well.  I don’t remember this cigar being that complex but I guess time in the humidor pays off and surprises often happen with Cuban tobacco….

This ended up becoming a real finger burner and I think that I’ll see what happens to the few I still have in the humidor, a few more months will alter their profile and should be a great way to start my day…. lets say…….. In July when I’m trout fishing!
